Pam Miller (Manager – 1978)

I have the distinction of being the school’s first female wrestling manager! In 1974 I came to Penn State from a small school in the Pocono’s. I had been the wrestling team statistician there, and I was looking for some way to belong at such a big school as Penn State. The coach of the high-school team suggested that I contact Bill Koll and run the idea of being a manager by him. During the winter of my senior year in high school, a group of us drove out to Penn State for the day to visit. I made an appointment with Coach Koll for an interview. We met in the wrestling room, and I told him my background. His response was a quick “Sure, you can do it!”, and I guess you can say the rest is history though a very small piece of Penn State’s.

I enjoyed the rest of my Penn State “wrestling” career immensely and have many wonderful memories. I now have two teen-age sons, who still can’t believe that their mom did that. I’ve had to show them the team pictures at Rec Hall to prove it.
