Volunteer Recruitment

The PSWC has been successful throughout its more than 40 years of existence because of the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. They have planned and executed many events and programs to enhance the experiences of Penn State wrestling fans. In so doing these volunteers met other PSWC fans and enjoyed the camaraderie of working together to enhance the wrestling program. Indeed, many life-long wrestling friendships have developed through PSWC volunteerism.

PSWC program highlights include bus trips to away dual meets and post season tournaments, block room reservations at NCAA and Big Ten tournaments, annual Awards Luncheon celebrations of the wrestlers and wrestling program, four to five issues of the PSWC Newsletter (PSWC Update) annually and publication of two books about the first 110 years of PSU wrestling: “A Century of Penn State Wrestling” in 2008 and “The Dawn of a New Era” in 2018.

The continued excellence of the PSWC depends largely upon the talents and contributions of the next generation of dedicated volunteers. We know that there are many talented folks among the PSWC’s 3,400 plus members. We are also certain that many of those members would share those talents with us if they knew more about the volunteer opportunities within the PSWC. This webpage is dedicated to informing the PSWC membership about the many volunteer opportunities within the Penn State Wrestling Club.

The following pages include committee structure diagrams for each of the PSWC’s Standing Committees as well as brief job descriptions for each volunteer position. Some of the volunteer opportunities require only small time commitments; others are more time intensive. Some positions require only short term commitments; others require more extended commitments. Some of the volunteer positions can be performed remotely; others can best be performed by volunteers who live in or near Central Pennsylvania. The main point is that there is probably an open volunteer position that fits into nearly anyone’s particular life situation. So, we encourage you to seriously consider becoming a PSWC volunteer and help assure that the PSWC can remain strong into the future.

Contact persons are identified for each standing committee complete with their email addresses. They would welcome hearing from you. Please contact them with any questions you may have about the committee and the opportunities for service to the PSWC within their committee. There currently are open volunteer opportunities for most committees.
