UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – While the Penn State Nittany Lions were dominating Maryland 42-6 in dual meet action, seven members of head coach Cael Sanderson’s squad travelled to Lock Haven University for Mat-Town 2. Tyler Kasak, ranked No. 12 at 149, led the charge of three Nittany Lions who won titles. He was joined by freshman Josh Barr at 184 and sophomore Lucas Cochran at 197.
Kasak went 4-0 with a pin and a major to advance to the finals where he won a hard-fought 4-2 bout over teammate David Evans. Kasak improves to 10-1 on the year. Freshman Josh Barr went 3-0 with two technical falls to win the title at 184. Sophomore Lucas Cochran went 2-0 with two pins to take first at 197.
Junior David Evans went 3-1 with a tech fall and a major at 149. His lone loss was the close 4-2 decision to teammate Kasak in the finals. Sophomore Brian Borden went 2-2 with two pins plus 1-1 against non-collegiates to take 6th at 174. Sophomore Jack Kelly went 3-1 with two pins and a non-collegiate loss to place 6th at 184. Freshman AJ Fricchione picked up a couple of wins at 197, going 2-1 with a pin.
