UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Eight members of the Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team competed at the Edinboro Open on Saturday, Feb., 3. Six competed attached and two unattached. Three Nittany Lions won titles at the event.
Senior Terrell Barraclough went 4-0 to win the crown at 165. Barraclough went 4-0 with two pins, a tech and a major to take the 165 pound title. True freshman Josh Barr won the weight class crown at 184, wrestling unattached. Barr went 4-0 with a pin, two tech s and a major to take first. Sophomore Lucas Cochran went 4-0 to take first at 197. Cochran went 4-0 with two pins and two technical falls to take first.
Freshman Connor Pierce was runner-up at 149. Pierce went 4-1 with two pins to take second. True freshman Kyison Garcia finished in sixth place with a 3-2 mark, wrestling unattached. Garcia had a major and a tech fall at the event. Sophomore Brian Borden went 3-2 to place sixth at 174. Borden had two majors on the day. Juniors Marco Vespa (125) and Tim Levine (149) also competed.
Penn State is now 8-0, 5-0 B1G, after last night’s 28-9 win over Ohio State in Rec Hall. Penn State travels to Iowa next weekend for its final road dual. The Nittany Lions and Hawkeyes meet on Friday, Feb. 9, at 9 p.m. Eastern (8 p.m. local) in a B1G Network national telecast. Penn State then hosts Rutgers on Monday, Feb. 12, in the 2024 BJC Dual. Action at the Bryce Jordan Center begins at 7 p.m., also live on the B1G Network.
