UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Nittany Lion wrestler Beau Bartlett was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week and true freshman Luke Lilledahl was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the week ending Dec. 15, 2024. The honors are the third and fourth for Penn State this year.
Bartlett made short work of No. 28 Cole Brooks at 141 pounds in Penn State’s 54-0 shutout win over visiting Wyoming on Sunday. Third-ranked Bartlett took Brooks down, shoulder to mat, early in the first period and pinned the ranked Cowboy in just 0:47. For Bartlett, the pin was his second of the year. He improved to 6-0 overall with the win.
Lilledahl dominated Wyoming’s Jack Braman at 125 to open up Penn State’s 54-0 shutout win over Wyoming on Sunday. Twelfth-ranked Lilledahl tallied four first period takedowns and two second period takedowns and a two-point near fall to roll to a 20-5 technical fall in just 4:25. Lilledahl now has three technical falls to go along with a 5-0 overall mark this season.
Previous weekly winners for Penn State this year are as follows: Mitchell Mesenbrink (Wrestler, 11/27); Josh Barr (Freshman, 12/12). The Nittany Lions improve to 3-0 on the year while the Cowboys fall to 2-3. Penn State returns to action next weekend with a trip to the Journeymen Collegiate Duals in Nashville, Tenn. The Nittany Lions will wrestle three opponents on Sunday, Dec. 22. Penn State battles Binghamton at 3 p.m., Little Rock at 5 p.m. and Missouri at 7 p.m. All rankings listed are InterMat/InterMat Team TPI.
