New Season Ticket Orders Now Being Accepted for 2010-11 Nittany Lion Wrestling Campaign

By: Pat Donghia

April 9, 2010

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Fresh off a top ten finish at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, as well as in the final dual meet rankings, the Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team and head coach Cael Sanderson now look ahead to the 2010-11 season. As a first step, new season tickets for next season can now be purchased, while current season ticket holders will receive their option to renew later in the fall.

"Cael's arrival brought not only excitement and anticipation, but progress and results, and our fans recognize that," said Associate Athletic Director Greg Myford. "The immediate jump in last year's season tickets sales has only gained momentum, so we've decided to respond earlier than ever before on how to go about securing tickets for next year. Rec Hall's going to be buzzing next winter."

Season ticket prices for 2010-11 will be $42 for adults and $28 for youth (18 and under) with payments being made in full at the time of the order. A $5 per order handling fee will be added. Reserved seat locations will be assigned and Nittany Lion Club members will be assigned best available seats according to their active membership and point level. Following fulfillment of all Nittany Lion Club season ticket requests, seats will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

To order tickets, please call Joel Diamond at 814-867-2557. New ticket orders will be fulfilled and mailed by November 1, 2010. Renewal applications for current season ticket holders will be available on or before October 1.

The Nittany Lions made great strides in Sanderson's first year as head coach. Average attendance ballooned by over 50 percent to 4,341 per dual (up from 2,789 the year before and the highest yearly average in over a decade). Penn State's ninth place finish at nationals to start the decade gets Penn State off to a solid start after finishing in the top ten only three times the decade before. Sanderson added three All-Americans and a national finalist to Penn State's history books and amassed 49 points in Omaha, 17th-most in Penn State history. The Nittany Lions went 13-6-1 in duals last year, ending the season ranked No. 10 in the final USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll after posting an 8-12-2 record the year before Sanderson's arrival.
